Manufacturing Process
Graphite electrodes are manufactured from high-quality low-ash materials, including petroleum coke, needle coke, and coal tar pitch.
The production process includes: calcination of raw materials, crushing, sieving, batching, kneading, forming, baking, impregnation, graphitization, and final precision machining using professional CNC equipment.
These processes ensure excellent product characteristics: low specific resistance, high electrical conductivity, low ash content, compact structure, good oxidation resistance, and high mechanical strength — making them the ideal conductive material for electric arc furnaces and smelting furnaces.
Applications
- For ladle furnaces (LF)
- For steelmaking in electric arc furnaces (EAF)
- For yellow phosphorus furnaces
- For industrial silicon furnaces or copper smelting
- For steel refining in ladle furnaces and other smelting processes

Transportation & Installation Guide
-
1Electrodes should be stored in a clean, dry location. Avoid vibration and collision. They must be dried before use.
-
2When installing the nipple connection, clean the socket hole with compressed air, then carefully screw in the nipple without damaging the thread.
-
3When connecting electrodes, both electrodes should be cleaned with compressed air when they are 20–30 mm apart from each other.
-
4When using a wrench to connect the electrode, it must be fully tightened to the specified torque so that the gap between the two electrodes is no less than 0.05 mm.
-
5To avoid electrode breakage, do not use insulation blocks during operation.
-
6To avoid electrode breakage, place the support block in the upper part of the electrode.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is an HP grade graphite electrode and where is it used?
HP (High Power) graphite electrodes are high-performance conductive materials used primarily in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) and Ladle Furnaces (LF) for steelmaking, smelting, and refining processes. They are also applied in yellow phosphorus furnaces and industrial silicon furnaces.
What raw materials are used to manufacture HP graphite electrodes?
HP graphite electrodes are produced from high-quality, low-ash raw materials including petroleum coke, needle coke, and coal tar pitch. These materials ensure low electrical resistance, high conductivity, and excellent mechanical strength.
What diameter sizes are available for HP graphite electrodes?
HP graphite electrodes are available in nominal diameters ranging from Ø200 mm to Ø600 mm, with lengths from 1800 mm to 2400 mm. HP Type II electrodes are available in diameters from Ø350 mm to Ø500 mm.
What payment and shipping terms do you offer?
We support flexible payment terms including T/T, L/C, D/P, D/A, Western Union, and Cash. Accepted currencies include USD, EUR, JPY, CAD, CNY, and AUD. Delivery terms available: FOB, CFR, CIF, EXW, and DDP. Shipments are made from Xingang or Qingdao ports in China.
How should HP graphite electrodes be stored and maintained?
Electrodes must be stored in a clean, dry environment, protected from vibration and physical impact. Before use, they should be thoroughly dried. During installation, use compressed air to clean the socket holes and nipple threads, and always tighten connections to the specified torque to ensure a gap of no less than 0.05 mm between connected electrodes.
How are HP graphite electrodes packaged for shipment?
HP graphite electrodes are carefully packed in sturdy wooden boxes or crates and secured with steel banding strips to ensure safe handling and transportation over long distances, preventing damage during transit.
